Training Details
Canvas Courses:
A completion certificate should be sent to your IU email after finishing each of these courses. Please download it to your computer to keep for your records and email it to Dr. Spencer.

Search and select "HIPAA Privacy & Security"

Ensure that you have selected the 2024 course and then select "go to canvas course"

Once the course is added to your Canvas page you can complete the course material and the required quiz

CITI Training:
Note:
CITI Training is required to work in any research setting and is long in comparison to the Canvas courses. Set aside an hour or two to complete it or you should be able to save your progress so you can complete it over several sessions. Recognize that this training is valid for up to 5 years so certification can be transferred onto future research projects. It is important information that teaches you how to protect the rights of participants so please take your time working through it.
Accessing the Program:

Select the dropdown menu "Accessing Indiana University/IU Health CITI Training"

Select "I have an IU username and password" and sign into your IU account

You should then access the CITI landing page which looks like this

Scroll down to "Institutional Courses" and select "View Courses"

You may be prompted to create a profile at the request of IU. Please fill out the information using your IU email address.

For "Department", enter Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences​

For "Role", select Student Researcher - Undergraduate

Scroll down to "Learner Tools for Indiana University/IU Health" and select "Add a Course"

It will navigate you to a Select Curriculum page and ask you questions, please answer with the following:

Click "submit" at the bottom of the form. You should now have the course(s) accessible under "courses ready to begin". Select the "Social/Behavioral Researchers" course that has 11 modules. Agree to the terms and conditions and start working through the modules. Keep in mind that you need an 80% on the course modules combined to pass. Once you finish the course an option to "View - Print - Share Record" should become available. Please download your certificate and email it to Dr. Spencer.
Study Specific Training
Additional training for the specific study you are volunteering for may be necessary. This could include handling an ultrasound probe, being present during an fMRI, or other tasks. We will let those interested know about any additional training requirements needed once it is determined which study they will be volunteering for.
