Who We Are
Dr. Caroline Spencer runs the SPIN Lab here at IU. She received her B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati and her M.S. from Purdue University. Following the completion of her postdoctoral fellowship at Boston University, Dr. Spencer accepted a position at Indiana University! Her teaching and research interests are neuroscience and speech pathology, especially how the brain and speech system are affected in developmental and neurodegenerative disorders. She teaches three graduate-level courses including S501 Neurological Foundations of Speech-Language Pathology, S555 Motor Speech Disorders, and S560 Craniofacial Anomalies.

Serena Bruneaux
Serena received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from Eastern Kentucky University. She is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and a Ph.D. in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. She chose to go to Indiana University because the research conducted by the SPIN Laboratory aligns well with her research interests. She is interested in neuroimaging of individuals with clinical disorders, especially disorders that affect language or cognition. When not conducting research, she enjoys spending time with friends and playing with her two dogs.
Graduate Research Assistant
Cameron is currently an M.A. student in the Speech-Language Pathology program. She received her undergraduate degree here at Indiana University in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. Her research interests include motor speech disorders, more specifically Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). As a future clinician, she hopes to work in the realm of pediatrics or go on to more school to pursue a doctoral degree. Cameron loves to spend time with her family and friends, travel, and read books in my free time.

Olivia Geers
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Olivia is currently a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and double minoring in Psychology and Child and Adolescent Mental Health. After graduation, Olivia plans to attend graduate school to become a speech-language pathologist with future career goals to work with children with autism spectrum disorder. She has loved getting involved in the research process through the SPIN Lab. In her free time, she likes to read, do homework at coffee shops, cook, and spend time with her friends and family.
Madelyn Delcotto
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Madelyn is a senior from Chicago, Illinois, majoring in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. Madelyn loves to take long walks, hang out with friends and family, and play with her puppy Paisley. After graduating from Indiana University, Madelyn plans to attend graduate school to obtain a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. After obtaining this degree, Madelyn hopes to work as a speech-language pathologist with children in a clinical setting. This is Madelyn's first research experience as an undergraduate student.
Morgan Render
Undergraduate Honor's Student
Morgan is a senior majoring in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and minoring in Human Development and Family Studies. Morgan’s plans after graduation are to attend graduate school to become a speech-language pathologist. She wants to specialize in working with pediatrics in an outpatient rehab facility. Morgan has been involved in three different research labs at Indiana University and has loved the experience she has gained from all of them. She loves to play pickleball, get sweet treats with friends, read, and hang out with her family.
Bridget
Assistant to the Assistant Professor
Bridget is Dr. Spencer's service dog and the most popular member of the SPIN Lab! Her roles within the lab include assisting Dr. Spencer and boosting morale. Her favorite activities are napping, eating treats, and playing with any kind of toy.
